SpecSync

About

We built SpecSync because the supplier inbox is where flooring shops lose their week.

SpecSync is a product of Plato Studio. We build software for the trades — specifically, the kind of software that fixes a problem your existing tools were never built for.

Every commercial flooring contractor we talked to ran the same week. Monday: bid invites. Tuesday and Wednesday: takeoffs. Thursday: a frantic scramble to get supplier pricing back. Friday: submit and hope. The reps with the biggest accounts were also the ones working the latest on bid day, because their volume of open RFQs was unmanageable.

What was strange about it was that none of the existing flooring software solved this part. RFMS, Dancik, Pacific Solutions, Comp-U-Floor, The EDGE — every shop had one of them, and they handled catalog management, takeoff, and final bid assembly. But the supplier email loop, where five of those Thursday hours actually went, lived outside of all of them. It lived in Gmail.

SpecSync is built specifically for that loop. Not catalog. Not takeoff. Not bid assembly. The thing none of the other tools touch: getting current prices back from a dozen suppliers, in a dozen formats, in a parseable form, fast.

The team

Dillon Auxier

Co-founder, Plato Studio

Dillon leads product and engineering at Plato Studio. Before SpecSync, he built software for industrial workflows and spent enough time on job sites to know the difference between what reps say they need and what they actually need.

Jonathan Cornell

Co-founder, Plato Studio

Jonathan runs go-to-market for SpecSync. His job is making sure the product reaches the reps who need it most, without the friction of a six-week procurement cycle.

Design partner

Daniel Lee

Estimating Lead, Signature Commercial Flooring

Daniel has been on every version of SpecSync since the first prototype. He helped shape the parsing logic for the supplier formats his team sees most often and continues to advise on every new feature. If a workflow exists in SpecSync, Daniel has used it on a real Florida commercial bid.
